  I know we are nearing the time when we will soon go pick up our little boys & maybe it's the knowing it's not too far off that has been making these past few weeks especially difficult.  JoJo, Joey & Jada are feeling the longing to bring their little brothers home as well.  Every morning on our way to school they pray... "just bring them home already.... please."  Amen!

It's so difficult to explain the complicated Haitian adoption process  so I wanted to try put a very simplified & generalized timeline to highlight where we are in the process.

1.)   Send in important document to Immigration, complete home study & send in several other documents. Lots of paper work.

2.)  Petition to Classify Orphan as and Immediate Relative -  More paperwork.

3.) Send in translated paperwork & send for approval from the Haitian consulate.

5.) WAIT & wait....


Then....

Step one

MFA Minister of Foreign Affairs:
Authenticates the documents: 1st step for you dossier - takes about 2-4 weeks


Step two:

Adoption Lawyer:  Preparation of file for IBESR.  There are many involved steps in step two.

Step three:

AOF investigation

Step four:

IBESR - Haiti's Social Services Department - more approvals

Step Five:

Parquet: Head Commissioner - Many lengthy steps involved in this step as well.

Step Six: WHERE WE ARE!!!!!!!

MOI: Minister Of Interior of Affairs

Passport application process - passports are issued with the adopting parents last name

adoption facilitator collects & submits the following:
four passport sized pictures
birth certificates
Attestation of Birth Certificate
Extract from the National Archives for the birth certificate
Relinquishment
process Verbal of Adoption 
Adoption Approval Judgement
Adoption Decree
Attestation of the Adoption Decree
Power of Attorney for Creche Director &/or attorney
Stamp from DGI
Notary letter for the Passport
Identification card for the facilitator 
Biological parents identification cards
Adoptive parents MOI form, identification & passport photos

Them MOI will grant authorization to submit dossier to Haitian Immigration for a passport

This can take 2-14 weeks (lately 4-8 weeks).  We have been here almost 8 weeks.  

Step Seven:

Passports

The adoption facilitator submits the authorisation from MOI to Haitian Immigration. Haition Immigrations issues passport.  This can take 2 days - 2 weeks if the machines are working properly.

Step Eight:

Child is taken to have Visa Medical Examination

Step Nine:

I-600 (American) 1-3 weeks

Step Ten:


Visa interview
